Grape sugar obtained from Vitis Vinifera grapes
Fructose (50%)
Glucose (50%)

Grape sugar is a type of natural sugar that is extracted from grapes, specifically fructose and glucose, which together make up the majority of the carbohydrates present in grapes.

We make our grape sugar with grape juice made from grapes of the Vitis Vinifera vine type, mainly from Italian vines.

Our grape sugar can be used in various food and beverage products, especially in those cases where a natural sweetener is sought such as grape juice, drinks, sweets and jams or in baby foods due to its natural origin.

The product is a dense transparent liquid, with a sweet taste, typical of grape concentrate, and a slightly fruity aroma.

Like other fruit sugars, grape sugar is a product with numerous applications in various food and industrial sectors, thanks to its high concentration, stability and versatility.

Being derived directly from grapes, it is a more natural and nutritious choice compared to refined sugars or artificial sweeteners.

In the beverage industry, it is used to sweeten fruit juices, both pure and mixed with other drinks, thanks to its high concentration of natural sugars which makes it ideal for producing sweet and aromatic juices. It is also used in energy drinks or food supplements that require a quick source of energy and provides natural sweetness without the addition of refined sugars.

In the food and pastry sector, grape sugar is used as a natural sweetener, replacing refined sugars and other artificial sweeteners. It is widely used in the preparation of jams, candies, marmalades and jellies, to obtain a delicate and natural sweetness without altering the taste of the fruit, and in the preparation of marzipan or other cake mixes to balance the sweetness and give a soft texture. It also finds space in ice creams and sorbets, where it enriches the product with a fruity and natural flavor.

It is also used in baked goods for a more natural and less elaborate preparation and in products for children, used to sweeten baby food, juices and snacks thanks to its easy digestibility. It is an ideal choice in vegan products, as it is a sweetener free of animal derivatives. Grape sugar, thanks to the presence of fructose, can be used in some products for diabetics.

Main Benefits

Our grape sugar is a great alternative to refined sugar or other artificial sweeteners, thanks to its more natural nutritional profile. The presence of fructose and glucose gives it a similar sweetness, but without the chemical processes associated with refined white sugar. It is therefore ideal for those looking for more natural sweetener options.

The must rectification process involves a treatment that eliminates impurities and unwanted components, such as acidity and other substances that could compromise the flavor or shelf life of the final product.

This results in a more stable grape sugar with a greater preservability, which can be used in various food and industrial applications. In addition, rectification allows for optimal consistency and transparency, preserving the natural sugars of the fruit, making the product perfect as a natural sweetener without resorting to artificial substances.

Frequently asked questions about grape sugar

Grape sugar is a naturally derived sweetener obtained from grapes. It consists mainly of glucose and fructose, the simple sugars naturally present in the fruit, and is used in a variety of food and beverage formulations.

Bagnarese grape sugar is produced from grapes through several processing stages, including crushing, decantation, filtration, concentration and rectification, resulting in a liquid ingredient rich in the sugars naturally present in the fruit.

Grape sugar is not made up of a single sugar: it contains mainly glucose and fructose. Dextrose, by contrast, refers specifically to D-glucose and is therefore not synonymous with grape sugar as an ingredient.

To learn more about the composition and characteristics of these two monosaccharides, read our in-depth article on the differences between glucose and fructose.

Grape sugar consists mainly of glucose and fructose, naturally present in grapes. Regular table sugar, by contrast, is primarily sucrose, a disaccharide made up of glucose and fructose.

Grape sugar can be used as a sweetening ingredient in jams, preserves and fruit-based preparations. Its slightly fruity profile makes it particularly suitable for formulations designed to enhance the characteristics of the raw material.

Grape sugar is suitable for a wide range of industrial formulations, including beverages, fruit-based preparations, jams and preserves, jellies, confectionery, ice cream, sorbets, yoghurt and baked goods.

Bagnarese grape sugar is produced in liquid form and can be supplied at different concentrations depending on production requirements and the specific industrial application.

Bagnarese produces and supplies grape sugar for industrial applications in the food and beverage sectors. For information on technical specifications, quantities, concentrations, packaging and supply conditions, you can contact the sales team directly.
